Well Spoken, Matt!
“Anyone can build a house. Building a place of laughter, family dinners, homework, sick time, game night – that is what transforms the house into a home. And the secret ingredient is love.” – Matt Cooksey, Alexander County Habitat for Humanity
Alexander County Habitat
is currently building a house for a child that is disabled. This will be the first home built on a slab for our organization. We wanted the house to be as close to zero entry as possible. This also means it has our first concrete porch! Other modifications are making the doors as big as possible and providing a Handicapped accessible bathroom with a shower (we have always done tubs). This work was made possible by a grant from the Canopy Housing Foundation (A great big Thank you to them). And a special thanks to Bret Mundy, who is a member of the Realtor’s Association who recommended us.
So Wonderful!
Here are a couple of shots from the home blessing ceremony for the project we recently finished up in Alexander County, NC.
Such a Happy Family!
There’s nothing like seeing the difference that achieving the dream of owning a home can make in people’s lives.
So Much Fun to Watch!
The roof is secure on our 25th Alexander County Habitat for Humanity home!
